Move Over To A Better Life In Goodyear, Arizona

The city of Goodyear, located in the southwest part of the Phoenix metro area, is one of the fastest growing cities in Arizona. With an estimated 40,000 residents in 2005, the city is expected to grow to more than 162,000 residents by 2020. Founded in 1917 by Paul Litchfield of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Goodyear officially became a city in 1985.

With its safe neighborhoods, great scenery, golf courses, convenient shopping, opportunities for outdoor activities, and less traffic than other cities, its no wonder that many families have been glad to call Goodyear home and why many more families will decide to purchase a home in Goodyear. Just 20 minutes west of downtown Phoenix, Goodyear has easy access to major freeways I-10 and Loop 101, as well as the West Valley’s 303. This makes for a relatively easy commute for most working residents. In fact, Goodyear has one of the highest median income levels in Arizona according to the 2000 census -- at $57,492, this income level is higher than the cities of Phoenix, Glendale, Mesa, and Scottsdale. Partly because of such affluent demographics, there are plans to build a super regional mall in Goodyear near the area of Bullard Avenue and McDowell Road.

Goodyear has plans to house the primary job center for the southwest valley by developing a 5000 acre employment corridor near the Phoenix-Goodyear Airport. Once finished, it would be the largest in Arizona, and could provide thousands of jobs for the community. The plans call for a combination of industrial, commercial, retail, and mixed-use development.

Most of the homes in Goodyear are less than 10 years old with many plans for more homes to be built and more master-planned communities. There is a nice mix of home prices in Goodyear from affordable starter homes to luxury mountain estates. Goodyear is also home to many great public schools, as well as charter, private, and religious schools. For higher education, Estrella Mountain Community College is located in Goodyear, while Arizona State University West is just a short drive away.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty of opportunities for recreation for all ages in Goodyear. There are currently 95 miles of bike paths and 33 miles of mountain trails for walking, hiking, and biking. 320 acres of parks are planned within the city of Goodyear. Approximately 17 square miles of the Estrella Mountain Regional Park is within the city’s limits. Pooltime fun can be found at the Goodyear Swimming Pool at Loma Linda Park which also offers swimming lessons and diving teams. Low-cost recreation classes are also available to residents for music, dance, and sports.

Goodyear is home to some wonderful master-planned communities, with more to come in the future. Probably the most famous, Estrella Mountain Ranch offers residents the ultimate in community amenities including two lakes, a community center, full fitness center, community pool, hot tub, water park, golf course, playgrounds, and more. Palm Valley, just north of I-10, offers a championship golf course, community center, pool, and neighborhood parks. Pebble Creek is a retirement community for residents 55 years and over, and includes a country club, two golf courses, community pool, fitness center, and activities designed for active adults. Canyon Trails, a newer family community, has many lush, open spaces and neighborhood parks that include tot lots, picnic ramadas, grills, and more. King’s Ranch is currently in the planning stages to be the next major master-planned community in Goodyear.

With all the parks, great neighborhoods, easy freeway access, shopping, dining, and outdoor activities available in Goodyear, it may just be the next place you choose to call home.
